Inspired by Piet Mondrian’s New York City I (1942), ReMondrian NYC pays tribute to a pioneer of modern abstraction and to the restless rhythm of the city that never sleeps.
Reclaimed wood samples intersect like streets, buildings, and pathways, forming an open architectural grid. Small accents of red, yellow, and blue emerge throughout the composition like flashes of movement—traffic lights, illuminated windows, and fragments of urban life.
Materials once destined to become waste are carefully cut, layered, and transformed through Lilimarq’s REPOP ART process. The raised structure allows light to pass between the lines, casting subtle shadows that shift throughout the day and giving the work a quiet sense of movement.
